Under the banner of the Burton Automotive Group, Norman and Maureen Burton began the operation back in 1963, with a Golden Fleece petrol station and small car yard and workshop. In 1970, they purchased a secondary site which became a new car showroom with a service department. It has grown to what we know today as Maitland and Port Stephens Toyota, Hunter GWM and Hunter Haval.
Norman Snr continues to play an active role in the business as do their two sons, Norm Jnr and Kim, and their daughter Dianne.
A number of grandchildren also work within the business.
The Australasian Barbecue Alliance is Australia’s foremost society promoting and developing traditional barbecue & smoking culture, sanctioning official ABA competitions nationwide.
The Steak Cookoff Association is dedicated to building the sport of steak cookoffs. The SCA benefits both cook teams and cookoff's by implementing standardized rules and equal competitive opportunities for each team. Every cookteam likes to know the rules, know the judging tent is run with integrity, that payouts are guaranteed and that they have an equal opportunity to win. So after a year of conversations and negotiations with some of the most influential leaders of the steak cookoff community, the SCA was created. Now cookteams can be assured of a fair and well run cookoff when it is sanctioned by the SCA.
